=============================================================================
Hello again,
Again some very busy months for me running UGA Software. The problem is that
I have to do a lot of the work myself. Luckily I now have good help from
our distributors. Especially our distributors in Germany (hi Guenther),
USA (hi Richard) and UK (hi Rod, Carol, Adrian) have don a great job with
selling our products.
I have just enjoyed the fantastic lifeshow of Vangelis in the harbour
of Rotterdam. 1200 people were needed to run this show and the was even
more hardware available than on the JM Jarre show in Paris last year.
The event was organised because of the European Eureka project; exchange
of scientific knowledge between countries. The music was fantastic but
just like the Docklands concert in London a few years ago there was lots
of rain. Luckily I own a stereo VCR so I also have the complete concert
on videotape, special thanks to Veronica television (how about some
Jarre concerts on TV the coming months ?? There are enough fans in Holland!).
Vangelis was playing several pieces from his albums (chariots of fire, mask,
Direct) and even Jon Anderson was invited for some vocal support.
For me the concert was as good as the famous Jarre concerts I visitted!.
We will visit this year's PCW show in London for the fourth time and will
take a groupphoto on the show which will be digitized for Newsflash. If
you want to be on it then be there. If you like to travel with us by
boat from Holland (Vlissingen) and have a freaky weekend in London
(Soho here we come) then get in touch. We will go with other artists
from Holland (The Jungle Command and others). If you want to meet us
on the show let us know. We don't know the date yet so we can't pick a
place and date right now. If you have material for Newsflash then take
it with you and it will appear on Newsflash 21. I am not sure but I have
heard rumours that the show will be held from 6-8 september.
By the way I am still looking for serious distributors in Denmark, Sweden,
Poland, Greece, Far-east, Norway and some other countries. Interested ?
We have several great products coming and Powerpacker will be further
developed.
About piracy of Powerpacker. Some people really don't give a damn about
illegal spreading of Powerpacker on a mass scale. We are already busy
in court defending our copyrights against pirates. We will also have
a court case against a dutch company called Action Media which is using
PPmore on a commercial product despite we (UGA+ Francois Nico) have
forbidden him to use it.
For any commercial use of PPmore, PPshow, PPtype or other Powerpacker
routines you have to buy a PP license. This is not expensive but we
like being asked first. If our routines are being used on commercial
software without a PP license you will be in troubles. Play fair and
buy this license so we can further develop this great tool, for the money
you won't have to leave it.
By the way it is ofcourse no problem to use PPmore, PPshow, PPanim on
non-commercial disks as long as you don't spread Powerpacker itself.
Two years ago I mentioned that my brother was almost killed in a big
explosion in the harbour in Rotterdam. He was working with three other
men on an empty tank where the roof had to be repaired. This tank was
property of Paktank (part of the Pakhoed multinational). Even after a
second check with the main office they were told the tank was empty.
They started working removing parts of the roof when a big explosion
followed. The roof was blasted in the sky for more than 20 meters high
with all 4 men on it. You have to know that this tanks are already
around 20 meters high so imagine you fall of a high building of 40
meters on a stone surface. 3 of the people were killed in the fire
after the explosions. My brother who survived his fall on the stone
ground could drag himself outside the range of the fire. The people
who saw the accident happening couldn't believe he was still alive.
Today he is no longer capable to do heavy work but he is alive. After
two years of battling against this company they finally have been
found quilty by the Police. They have done everything what was juridical
possible to delay the case and to keep it out of the publicity. Let's
hope there will some money coming for their families.
Another example of a company where money is more important than human
lives. Even now, after the accident, the security have not been improved
so it still can happen a second time.
This disaster could had been even worse because the tank contained
the very dangerous blue-toxic gas. Just imagine if this was blown by
the wind to the city of Rotterdam !!
Let's hope there will change something and save lives.
But back to business, check out the infofiles about new UGA disks. We
have lots of things coming after the summer (or should I say autumn if
I look outside). I also like to thank one of our readers in Vancouver
who also wrote to Martyn. Thanks Joel for your nice letter. Please let
me know your address, you didn't mention it in your letter. It makes
me happy when a 67 year old AMIGA user on the other side of the world
likes our disks. And we have lots more coming Joel !!
I always welcome feedback to know if people think we do it right. A
nice letter always gives me the feeling I am doing my work the right way.
At last I like to bring a salute to all the old members of A.N.C Europe
for the good old times. Thanks for the last 2 music disks you released!
Jean Michel Jarre forever !!!
Thanks for your attention and have a nice day with exploring this issue!
The guy without the wooden shoes or red tulips!
PS: When you are in Holland visit one of our meetings where you can talk
